From 96 Overall to a 98 Overall Peak
Favre's Madden history begins at an already impressive 96 overall.
After dropping to 92 in Madden NFL 2001, his rating rebounded to 97 in both Madden NFL 2002 and Madden NFL 2003.
He then reached his career Madden peak of 98 overall in Madden NFL 2004.
That means Favre was already rated among the game's elite quarterbacks at the beginning of the recorded history on MaddenRatings.net and reached an even higher level several releases later.

Favre's Green Bay Peak
The strongest stretch of Favre's recorded Madden history comes during his years with Green Bay.
His ratings include:
97 OVR — Madden NFL 2002
97 OVR — Madden NFL 2003
98 OVR — Madden NFL 2004
94 OVR — Madden NFL 2005
93 OVR — Madden NFL 06
Even after falling from his 98 peak, Favre remained above 90 overall through Madden NFL 06.
This represents several consecutive releases in which Madden continued to rate him as an elite quarterback.

The Biggest Decline
Favre's most significant decline in the recorded database occurs between Madden NFL 06 and Madden NFL 07.
His rating falls from:
93 OVR → 88 OVR
That's a five-point decrease.
His rating then moved slightly upward to 89 in Madden NFL 08 before rebounding to 94 in Madden NFL 09.
That rebound is one of the more interesting parts of his rating history because it shows that his ratings did not simply decline continuously with age.

A Late-Career Rebound
After reaching 88 overall in Madden NFL 07 and 89 in Madden NFL 08, Favre's rating climbed back to 94 overall in Madden NFL 09.
The Madden NFL 09 entry identifies Favre with the New York Jets and notes a roster update associated with his move to the team.
This gives his Madden history another interesting chapter: his rating improved again after an earlier decline, even as his career moved into a different stage.

The Final Recorded Ratings
Favre's final recorded Madden ratings show another significant change.
He was rated:
94 OVR — Madden NFL 09
82 OVR — Madden NFL 10
92 OVR — Madden NFL 11
The 12-point drop followed by a 10-point rebound makes the final portion of Favre's Madden history particularly unusual.
The Madden NFL 11 entry lists him with the Minnesota Vikings.

Madden Ratings Analysis
Brett Favre's Madden history is interesting because it doesn't follow a perfectly predictable career curve.
He starts the database already rated 96 overall, reaches 98 during his Green Bay peak, and then experiences a noticeable decline.
But the later portion of his career shows that his Madden rating could still rebound.
The jump from 89 in Madden NFL 08 to 94 in Madden NFL 09 is significant, and the final entries are even more unusual: Favre drops to 82 in Madden NFL 10 before returning to 92 in Madden NFL 11.
That makes Favre a particularly useful example of why historical Madden ratings are more interesting when viewed as a timeline rather than as isolated numbers.
His page also demonstrates that reaching the Madden 99 Club isn't necessary for a player to have an exceptional ratings history. Favre's 98 overall peak and long stretch of 90-plus ratings tell the story of a quarterback who remained highly rated across multiple stages of his career.
