Every Madden 99 Club Member in History

9/13/2026

A 99 Overall rating is the highest possible rating in modern Madden NFL, and earning one has become one of the most prestigious honors in the Madden franchise.

The Madden 99 Club has featured some of the greatest NFL players of the past three decades, including Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ray Lewis, Calvin Johnson, J.J. Watt, Aaron Donald, Patrick Mahomes, and many more.

But the history goes back further than the official "99 Club" branding. Madden NFL 99 featured 14 players rated 99 Overall, while earlier versions of Madden could even give players ratings above 99.

Below is the complete history of players who received a 99 Overall rating in Madden from Madden NFL 99 through Madden NFL 27.

Editor's Note: The term "99 Club" became an official Madden marketing designation in the modern era, but this article includes earlier players who received a 99 Overall rating so that the complete history of the rating is preserved.

Madden NFL 27 — 2026
Madden NFL 27 has six players rated 99 Overall.

Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seattle Seahawks
Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams
Myles Garrett, DE, Los Angeles Rams
Trey McBride, TE, Arizona Cardinals

Three players returned to the 99 Club from Madden NFL 26: Ja'Marr Chase, Josh Allen, and Myles Garrett.

Madden NFL 27 also introduced three new 99 Overall players: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Matthew Stafford, and Trey McBride. Stafford earned his first career 99 rating after 18 NFL seasons, while Smith-Njigba and McBride also reached 99 for the first time.

The six-player group makes Madden NFL 27 particularly interesting because the Rams have two 99-rated players in Stafford and Garrett.

Madden NFL 26 — 2025
Madden NFL 26 featured seven 99 Overall players:
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Madden NFL 2002 is also an important dividing line in Madden history because 99 became the maximum rating used by the game.

Madden NFL 2001 — 2000
No player received a 99 Overall rating in Madden NFL 2001.
This makes Madden NFL 2001 one of the most unusual editions in the history of Madden ratings. The highest-rated player did not reach 99.

Madden NFL 2000 — 1999
Madden NFL 2000 featured three players rated 99 Overall:
Barry Sanders, RB, Detroit Lions
Dermontti Dawson, C, Pittsburgh Steelers
Matt Turk, P, Washington Redskins

The Players With the Most 99 Overall Ratings
While many players have reached 99 Overall once, a much smaller group has done it repeatedly.
Based on the historical Madden ratings record, Aaron Donald leads the modern history with seven 99 Overall ratings, followed by Peyton Manning with six and Ray Lewis with five.

Players with multiple 99 Overall ratings

99 Ratings
  • Aaron Donald 7
  • Peyton Manning 6
  • Ray Lewis 5
  • Tom Brady 4
  • Calvin Johnson 4
  • Patrick Mahomes 4
  • Jonathan Ogden 4
  • J.J. Watt 4
  • Champ Bailey 3
  • Myles Garrett 3
  • Antonio Gates 3
  • Travis Kelce 3

  • Troy Polamalu 2
  • Aaron Rodgers 2
  • Warren Sapp 2
  • Richard Sherman 2
  • LaDainian Tomlinson 2
  • Adam Vinatieri 2
  • Trent Williams 2

Aaron Donald's seven 99 ratings came consecutively from Madden NFL 18 through Madden NFL 24, an extraordinary run that has yet to be matched.

Which Madden Had the Most 99 Overall Players?
Madden NFL 99 currently stands out for the sheer number of players receiving a 99 Overall rating, with 14 players.
Other editions with large 99-rated groups include:
  • Madden NFL 07 — 7
  • Madden NFL 19 — 7
  • Madden NFL 11 — 6
  • Madden NFL 2004 — 6
  • Madden NFL 06 — 6
  • Madden NFL 09 — 6
  • Madden NFL 10 — 6
  • Madden NFL 21 — 5
  • Madden NFL 22 — 5
  • Madden NFL 2002 — 5
  • Madden NFL 2003 — 5
  • Madden NFL 08 — 5

The number of 99-rated players has varied considerably over the years, showing how the philosophy behind Madden ratings has changed from one generation of the game to another.

The Evolution of the Madden 99 Club

The history of the Madden 99 Club is really the history of how EA has evaluated the very best NFL players.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Madden ratings were less restrictive, and some players could even receive ratings above 99. By Madden NFL 2002, 99 had become the maximum.

Over the following decade, the list of 99-rated players became increasingly exclusive. Quarterbacks, wide receivers, defensive players, and other elite stars regularly appeared at the top of the ratings. The modern 99 Club era added another layer of recognition, turning the 99 rating into a highly publicized annual achievement.

Players such as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ray Lewis, Aaron Donald and Patrick Mahomes have each built remarkable 99-rating histories, while players such as Matthew Stafford and Trey McBride have continued the tradition by reaching 99 for the first time in Madden NFL 27.

What Makes a Madden 99 Rating Special?
A 99 Overall rating does not mean that every individual attribute is rated 99. Instead, Overall Rating is a summary rating influenced by a player's individual attributes and position. A player can therefore have specific attributes below 99 while still earning a 99 Overall rating.

That is one reason the Madden 99 Club is interesting to compare across positions. A 99-rated quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker, defensive lineman, or tight end can reach that overall rating in very different ways. Madden NFL 27 illustrates this perfectly. The six 99-rated players have very different attribute profiles, from Josh Allen's quarterback ratings to Myles Garrett's strength and pass-rushing ability and Jaxon Smith-Njigba's receiving attributes.

Madden NFL 27: The Top 10 Wide Receivers in the Most Important Receiving Skills

When it comes to building a dominant passing attack in Madden NFL 27, having a great quarterback is only part of the equation. The receiver on the other end of the pass can make just as big of a difference.
Whether you're looking for a receiver who can win contested catches, separate deep downfield, create explosive plays after the catch, or simply outrun the defense, Madden NFL 27 gives players plenty of elite options.

The latest Madden Ratings reveal some fascinating differences between the league's top wide receivers. Ja’Marr Chase, Puka Nacua, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson consistently appear near the top across multiple receiving categories, while speedsters such as Xavier Worthy, Jameson Williams and Brian Thomas Jr. can completely change the way a defense has to play.

Here is a closer look at the Top 10 wide receivers in four major Madden NFL 27 skill categories: Spectacular Catch, Deep Route Running, Release and Speed.

Puka Nacua Leads Madden NFL 27 in Spectacular Catch

If you're looking for a receiver who can make ridiculous catches look routine, Puka Nacua is the man to have on your roster.

Nacua owns the highest Spectacular Catch rating in Madden NFL 27 at 99, giving him the ability to come down with some of the most difficult catches in the game.

Nacua isn't alone at the top. Jaxon Smith-Njigba and George Pickens both check in with 98, while Chase and Jefferson are right behind them at 97.

This category is especially important when you're throwing into tight coverage. A receiver with a high Spectacular Catch rating gives you more confidence when the defender is draped all over your target.

For players who love throwing 50/50 balls, this group is loaded with weapons.

Ja’Marr Chase Is the Deep Route Running King

If your Madden offense revolves around attacking defenses vertically, Ja’Marr Chase might be the ultimate weapon. Chase owns a 98 Deep Route Running rating, the highest mark among the receivers featured in the rankings.

Chase's combination of 98 Deep Route Running and 96 Speed makes him particularly dangerous on go routes, deep posts, fades and other vertical concepts. But the most interesting name near the top might be Jaxon Smith-Njigba. JSN has a 97 Deep Route Running rating, putting him just one point behind Chase. That rating helps explain why he can be such a nightmare for defensive backs even though he's not among the absolute fastest receivers in the game.

Release: Ja’Marr Chase and Jaxon Smith-Njigba Dominate

Getting open isn't only about speed. Sometimes the most important part of the route happens immediately after the snap. A receiver needs to defeat press coverage, create separation and get into his route before the defender can disrupt the timing.

That's where Release becomes extremely important.

Once again, Ja’Marr Chase sits at the top, this time with a perfect 99 Release rating. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is right behind him with a 98, while CeeDee Lamb comes in at 97.

Interestingly, this list also highlights several receivers who aren't necessarily known as the fastest players in Madden. Davante Adams, Drake London and Nico Collins all rank highly in Release, showing how valuable technical route-running skills can be.

A receiver doesn't necessarily need 98+ speed to be dangerous. Sometimes, he just needs to get off the line.

Xavier Worthy Is the Fastest Wide Receiver in Madden NFL 27

Of course, sometimes speed is everything. If you're looking to turn a short completion into a touchdown or force the defense to back off the line of scrimmage, few things are more intimidating than a receiver with elite speed.

And Xavier Worthy owns the highest Speed rating among the receivers featured here with a 99. Worthy's 99 Speed gives him a unique advantage. The Kansas City wideout can force defenders to respect the deep ball on virtually every snap. That opens up opportunities underneath for running backs, tight ends and other receivers.

Jameson Williams isn't far behind at 98, while Brian Thomas Jr., KaVontae Turpin and Brenden Thompson all come in at 97.

But perhaps the most important name on this list is Chase. At 96 Speed, Chase doesn't have the highest speed rating in the game—but when you combine that speed with elite route running, release and spectacular catching, he becomes one of the most complete receivers in Madden NFL 27.

Ja’Marr Chase Might Be the Most Complete WR in Madden NFL 27

Looking across all four categories, one player repeatedly separates himself from the competition:
Ja’Marr Chase. Chase ranks:
  • 99 Release
  • 98 Deep Route Running
  • 97 Spectacular Catch
  • 96 Speed

That's an absolutely ridiculous combination. He's not No. 1 in every category, but he's elite in all of them. And that's arguably more important. A receiver with 99 speed might be able to burn you deep, but a receiver with elite ratings across multiple categories can hurt you in almost every situation.

Chase can:
  • Beat press coverage
  • Create separation downfield
  • Make difficult catches
  • Stretch the defense vertically
  • Win contested situations
  • Turn intermediate routes into explosive plays

For Madden players looking for the ultimate all-around wide receiver, Chase has a very strong argument.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Is One of Madden's Most Interesting WRs

Another receiver who jumps off these rankings is Jaxon Smith-Njigba. His numbers are incredibly well-rounded:
  • 98 Spectacular Catch
  • 97 Deep Route Running
  • 98 Release

That's elite production in three major receiving categories. JSN doesn't need to be the fastest receiver on the field to be dangerous. His 97 Deep Route Running means he's capable of consistently creating separation on vertical concepts, while his 98 Release helps him get into those routes effectively. Add a 98 Spectacular Catch, and you have a receiver who can make difficult plays even when the defense manages to stay close.

He may not have the 99 Speed of Xavier Worthy, but Madden players looking for a complete receiver have plenty of reasons to consider Smith-Njigba.

Puka Nacua Is the Ultimate Big-Play Catch Specialist

Puka Nacua presents a different type of problem. His 99 Spectacular Catch rating is the highest among the receivers shown, and he also owns:
  • 92 Deep Route Running
  • 92 Release
  • 97 Speed

That combination makes Nacua particularly dangerous when plays break down. If your quarterback is scrambling and needs somewhere to throw the ball, Nacua's spectacular-catch ability can become a major advantage. He's also fast enough to create explosive plays, while his elite catching ability gives players confidence throwing into coverage.

CeeDee Lamb Brings Elite All-Around Ability

CeeDee Lamb is another receiver who appears consistently near the top. His ratings include:
  • 96 Spectacular Catch
  • 95 Deep Route Running
  • 97 Release

That 97 Release is especially impressive. Lamb isn't simply relying on athleticism. He's capable of defeating coverage at the line, running precise routes and making difficult catches. For Cowboys fans and Madden players using Dallas, Lamb gives the offense an extremely versatile weapon.

Justin Jefferson Remains One of Madden's Elite Route Runners

Justin Jefferson continues to be one of the most dangerous receivers in Madden. His ratings include:
  • 97 Spectacular Catch
  • 96 Deep Route Running
  • 94 Release
  • 96 Speed

Jefferson's 96 Speed combined with 96 Deep Route Running makes him a major vertical threat. But his 97 Spectacular Catch rating means he's equally dangerous when the quarterback has to make a difficult throw into coverage. He's the type of receiver who can fit virtually any offensive scheme.

The Speedsters Change How You Play Madden

While players such as Chase, Jefferson, Lamb and Nacua offer elite all-around skill sets, the fastest receivers can fundamentally change your offensive strategy.

Xavier Worthy — 99 Speed
Jameson Williams — 98 Speed
Brian Thomas Jr. — 97 Speed
KaVontae Turpin — 97 Speed
Brenden Thompson — 97 Speed

These players can force defenses to adjust before the snap. A cornerback playing too close to the line risks getting beaten over the top. A safety cheating toward the line creates opportunities elsewhere. That makes elite speed valuable even when the receiver isn't the primary target.

The Best WR Depends on How You Play

The Madden NFL 27 ratings show that there isn't necessarily one receiver who is perfect for every player.

Best Spectacular Catch
Puka Nacua — 99

If you love contested catches and throwing into coverage, Nacua is your guy.

Best Deep Route Runner
Ja’Marr Chase — 98

If you're attacking defenses vertically, Chase is at the top.

Best Release
Ja’Marr Chase — 99

If you want a receiver who can consistently defeat coverage at the line, Chase again leads the way.

Fastest WR
Xavier Worthy — 99

If pure speed is what you're looking for, Worthy is the answer.

Best All-Around Combination
Ja’Marr Chase

His combination of 99 Release, 98 Deep Route Running, 97 Spectacular Catch and 96 Speed makes him one of the most complete wide receivers in Madden NFL 27.

Final Thoughts

The Madden NFL 27 wide receiver ratings show just how many different ways there are to dominate through the air. Puka Nacua is the king of spectacular catches. Xavier Worthy owns the top speed rating. Ja’Marr Chase dominates Release and Deep Route Running. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is incredibly well-rounded across multiple categories, while CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson remain elite in virtually every aspect of the receiving game.

Madden NFL 27 gives players an incredible collection of receiving weapons—and these ratings show exactly why some of the NFL's biggest stars can completely take over a game.

Madden NFL 27 Fastest Players on Offense

9/3/2026

Madden NFL 27 is here, and if there is one attribute that can completely change the way a game feels, it is speed.

Whether you're looking for a quarterback who can escape the pocket, a running back who can turn a five-yard gain into an 80-yard touchdown, a receiver who can blow past the secondary, or even an offensive lineman who can get out in front of a screen pass, speed matters in Madden.

The latest Madden NFL 27 ratings reveal just how much speed is spread throughout the league. Some of the names at the top are familiar superstars, while others are young players who could become absolute nightmares for opponents in Franchise Mode, Superstar, Ultimate Team, and online head-to-head play.

According to the Madden NFL 27 speed ratings, Xavier Worthy leads all players with a 99 SPD rating, while Jahmyr Gibbs and Jameson Williams are right behind him at 98. More than two dozen players have a speed rating of at least 95, giving players plenty of options when building a team around explosive athletes.

But the fastest players aren't limited to wide receivers and running backs.

Here is a complete look at the Top 10 fastest players at quarterback, offensive line, tight end, wide receiver, and running back in Madden NFL 27, based on the ratings shown in the graphics below.

The Fastest Quarterbacks in Madden NFL 27

Quarterback speed has become more important than ever in Madden.

A mobile quarterback can completely change how a defense has to play. Defensive ends have to think twice before crashing down on the running back, linebackers have to respect the quarterback keeper, and a quarterback who gets into open space can pick up huge chunks of yardage.

And once again, Lamar Jackson sits at the top. There is still nobody quite like Lamar Jackson when it comes to quarterback mobility.

Jackson's 95 speed makes him the fastest quarterback in Madden NFL 27, giving him a major advantage over virtually every other player at the position.

That speed is especially dangerous when combined with his ability to throw on the run. A player using Jackson doesn't necessarily have to scramble every play. Simply having the threat of a quarterback run can force the defense to hesitate.

Jackson's Madden 27 overall rating is also an impressive 94, making him one of the most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks in the game.

Jalen Milroe — 93 SPDThe biggest surprise near the top may be Buffalo's Jalen Milroe.

At 93 speed, Milroe is only two points behind Jackson and three points ahead of the next group of quarterbacks.

For Madden players who enjoy creating chaos with a mobile QB, Milroe could be one of the most interesting players to experiment with.

Caleb Williams and Anthony Richardson — 91 SPD

Two quarterbacks tied at 91 are Caleb Williams and Anthony Richardson.

Williams' combination of athleticism and improvisational ability makes him particularly dangerous outside the pocket. Richardson, meanwhile, has the physical profile to punish defenses that give him open running lanes.

Jayden Daniels — 90 SPD

Washington's Jayden Daniels remains one of the fastest quarterbacks in the game at 90 speed.
Interestingly, Daniels' overall rating dropped to 80 in Madden NFL 27, but his physical ratings remain impressive, including 90 speed, 91 agility, and 88 change of direction.

That makes Daniels one of the more intriguing quarterbacks for players who care more about athletic ability than overall rating.

The Fastest Offensive Linemen in Madden NFL 27

When people think about speed in Madden, offensive linemen probably aren't the first position that comes to mind.

But offensive line speed can be extremely useful.

Fast linemen can get into space on screens, pull across the formation, reach linebackers on outside runs, and help create lanes for speedy running backs.
Madden NFL 27 features some surprisingly fast offensive linemen.

The top four offensive linemen all come in at 78 speed, creating a four-way tie for the fastest OL group.
That's a remarkable number when you consider the size of these players.

Trent Williams
, one of the most accomplished offensive tackles of his generation, remains one of the fastest linemen in the game at 78 SPD. Interestingly, Williams has a 96 overall rating in Madden NFL 27 despite not receiving a spot in the game's 99 Club.

The Eagles also make a strong showing with both Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson checking in at 76 speed.
For players who like outside-zone runs, screens, counters, and pulling linemen, these ratings can make a noticeable difference.

The Fastest Tight Ends in Madden NFL 27

Tight end might be the most interesting position on this list.

The best tight ends in Madden don't just catch passes. They can block, line up in multiple formations, attack the middle of the field, and create matchup problems against linebackers and safeties.

When you add elite speed, the position becomes even more dangerous.

Brock Bowers — 90 SPDBrock Bowers is the headliner.
At 90 speed, Bowers is tied for the fastest tight end in Madden NFL 27.

That's an absurd combination when you consider that Bowers is also one of the game's highest-rated young offensive players.

A 90-speed tight end can create serious problems for defenses. If a linebacker tries to cover him, Bowers has the speed advantage. If a safety covers him, the offense can potentially exploit the size mismatch.

Kyle Pitts — 90 SPD

And Bowers isn't alone. Kyle Pitts Sr. also has 90 speed, giving Atlanta one of the most athletic tight ends in Madden.

Pitts has long been known for his combination of size and athleticism, and Madden's ratings continue to reflect that physical ability.

The Cardinals Have Two Fast TEsOne of the more interesting details is Arizona's presence twice in the top 10.

Elijah Higgins
and Trey McBride both appear among the fastest tight ends. That gives the Cardinals some interesting possibilities for players who like running multiple tight-end formations.

The Fastest Wide Receivers in Madden NFL 27

Now we get to the position where speed becomes absolutely ridiculous.

Wide receivers dominate the fastest-player rankings in Madden NFL 27.

And at the very top is Xavier Worthy.

There is no debate over the top spot according to the Madden 27 ratings.
Xavier Worthy has a 99 speed rating.

That makes him the only player at the top of the list with a perfect 99 SPD rating.

Worthy's elite speed isn't exactly a surprise. He famously recorded the fastest 40-yard dash in NFL Combine history, and Madden has rewarded that straight-line explosiveness with the game's highest speed rating.

But there's an interesting debate surrounding the rating.
FOX Sports' Henry McKenna pointed out that combine speed and actual NFL game speed aren't always the same thing, noting that Worthy did not rank among the top 20 fastest ball carriers according to Next Gen Stats in 2025.

Regardless of the real-life debate, Madden players get the benefit.

99 SPD Xavier Worthy is a cheat code.

If you can get him behind the secondary, there may not be many defensive backs capable of catching him.

Jameson Williams — 98 SPD

Detroit may have the most terrifying speed combination in the game. Jameson Williams has 98 speed, putting him just one point behind Worthy.
Even more impressively, Williams is joined by Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who also has 98 speed.

That means Detroit can potentially put two players with 98 SPD on the field at the same time.

For Madden players, that is a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Brenen Thompson — 97 SPD

The biggest newcomer to this group is Brenen Thompson.

The Chargers receiver enters Madden NFL 27 with a 97 speed rating.

Thompson recorded a 4.26-second 40-yard dash at the 2026 NFL Combine, helping establish himself as one of the fastest players in the incoming rookie class.

Brian Thomas Jr. — 97 SPD

Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr. also comes in at 97.

That makes him one of the most dangerous young receivers in Madden when it comes to pure acceleration and deep-ball potential.

Ja'Marr Chase — 96 SPD

One of the most interesting names on the list is Ja'Marr Chase.

Chase isn't just fast. He is also one of the very best overall players in Madden NFL 27. Madden lists Chase at 99 overall, meaning players get elite speed without sacrificing the other attributes that make a receiver dangerous.

That's what separates Chase from many of the other speedsters.

A 96-speed receiver is great. A 96-speed receiver who is also a 99 OVR superstar is something else entirely.

The Fastest Running Backs in Madden NFL 27

If there is one position that might be even more important than wide receiver when it comes to speed, it is running back.

A running back gets the ball behind the line of scrimmage with an entire defense trying to stop him.
One missed tackle can be all it takes.

And Madden NFL 27 has some absolutely ridiculous running backs.

Jahmyr Gibbs — 98 SPDIf you're looking for the fastest running back in Madden NFL 27, the answer is Jahmyr Gibbs.

His 98 speed ties him with Jameson Williams for the second-highest speed rating in the entire game.
Gibbs' speed is especially dangerous because he's not simply a straight-line runner. His ability to make defenders miss and create explosive plays makes him one of the most dangerous backs to use.

Madden players aren't just getting a fast running back.

They're getting a player who can potentially take over an entire game.

De'Von Achane — 96 SPD

Miami's De'Von Achane is next at 96 speed.

Achane has established himself as one of the NFL's premier big-play threats, and his Madden rating reflects that.

Interestingly, Achane's speed was also one of the major talking points heading into the release of Madden NFL 27. Sportsnaut highlighted his elite real-life tracking data and noted that he had one of the fastest recorded ball-carrier speeds in the NFL.

Saquon Barkley — 95 SPD

Then there is Saquon Barkley. At 95 speed, Barkley is tied with two other running backs in the third tier of the rankings.

But unlike some of the younger speedsters, Barkley combines his speed with elite overall ability.

Madden lists Barkley at 92 overall, making him one of the highest-rated backs in the game.

TreVeyon Henderson — 95 SPD

New England's TreVeyon Henderson is another fascinating name. Henderson enters this group with 95 speed and represents the kind of young player who could become extremely popular in Franchise Mode.
He's also part of a growing trend in Madden: young players arriving with elite athletic ratings immediately making them attractive options for rebuilding teams.

Jeremiyah Love — 94 SPD

One of the biggest rookie names on the list is Jeremiyah Love. Love has a 94 speed rating and an 82 overall rating, which gives him a combination of youth, athleticism, and upside that should make him particularly appealing in Franchise Mode.

Who Is the Fastest Player in Madden NFL 27 on Offense? If you only care about one number, the answer is simple:

Xavier Worthy — 99 SPDWorthy sits alone at the top.

Behind him are:
  1. Xavier Worthy — 99
  2. Jahmyr Gibbs — 98
  3. Jameson Williams — 98
  4. Brian Thomas Jr. — 97
  5. KaVontae Turpin — 97
  6. Brenen Thompson — 97
  7. Lorenzo Styles Jr. — 97

Madden Ratings' full speed database shows that the top of the overall speed rankings is dominated by wide receivers, running backs, and defensive backs.

There are also a large number of players sitting at 96 speed, meaning the gap between the very fastest players and the next tier is extremely small.

The Detroit Lions May Be the Ultimate Speed Team

One of the biggest takeaways from these Madden NFL 27 ratings is just how much speed the Detroit Lions possess.
Detroit has:
  • Jahmyr Gibbs — 98 SPD
  • Jameson Williams — 98 SPD
That gives the Lions two players tied for the second-fastest speed rating in the entire game.

And they play completely different positions.

Imagine a formation with Gibbs lined up in the backfield and Williams split wide. The defense has to account for 98-speed players both horizontally and vertically. That can create opportunities for:
  • Inside runs
  • Outside runs
  • Screens
  • Wheel routes
  • Deep posts
  • Slants
  • Jet motion
  • Play-action
  • RPO-style concepts
It's one of the most dangerous combinations available to Madden players.

The Chiefs Have the Fastest Player in the Game

The Kansas City Chiefs have the ultimate speed weapon in Xavier Worthy.

With 99 SPD, Worthy is the only player who reaches the maximum speed rating. And Kansas City isn't relying on just one highly rated player. The Chiefs also have several players rated 90 or higher overall, making them one of the game's strongest overall rosters.

For players who enjoy vertical passing attacks, Worthy should be one of the first players to consider.

Put him on a streak.
Send him deep.
Motion him across the formation.
Put him in the slot.
The possibilities are nearly endless.

Speed Isn't Everything in Madden (but it's a lot...)

It's important to remember that speed rating is only one part of the equation. A player with 99 speed isn't automatically better than a player with 95 speed.

Other attributes such as:
  • Acceleration
  • Agility
  • Change of direction
  • Carrying
  • Catching
  • Route running
  • Release
  • Break tackle
  • Ball carrier vision
  • Strength
  • Awareness
can dramatically change how a player performs.

This is particularly important at wide receiver. A 99-speed receiver might be nearly impossible to catch once he gets behind the defense, but a receiver with excellent release, route running, catching, and acceleration may actually be more useful in certain offensive systems.

The same principle applies to running backs. Speed gets you there.

But acceleration, change of direction, agility, and ball-carrier skills determine what happens when you get there.

The Most Interesting Speed Ratings in Madden NFL 27

Beyond the obvious superstars, several ratings stand out.
  • Lamar Jackson — 95 SPD - Still the king of quarterback speed.
  • Jalen Milroe — 93 SPD - One of the most intriguing athletic quarterbacks in the game.
  • Brock Bowers — 90 SPD - A 90-speed tight end creates major matchup problems.
  • Xavier Worthy — 99 SPD - The only 99-speed player.
  • Jahmyr Gibbs — 98 SPD - The fastest running back in Madden NFL 27.
  • Jameson Williams — 98 SPD - The second-fastest receiver and one of the game's most explosive players.
  • Brenen Thompson — 97 SPD - A rookie immediately entering the elite speed conversation.
  • Brian Thomas Jr. — 97 SPD - A young receiver with elite deep-threat potential.
  • Ja'Marr Chase — 96 SPD - One of the best overall players in the game who also happens to be one of its fastest receivers.
  • De'Von Achane — 96 SPD - One of the most dangerous speed backs in the NFL.

Best Speed Players for Different Madden Play Styles

Best QB for Scrambling: Lamar Jackson — 95 SPD
If your offense revolves around quarterback runs and improvisation, Lamar is the obvious choice.

Best QB for a Young Franchise: Jalen Milroe — 93 SPD
Milroe's combination of youth and elite athleticism makes him an intriguing long-term option.

Best Deep Threat: Xavier Worthy — 99 SPD
It's almost impossible to argue against him.

Best Speed RB: Jahmyr Gibbs — 98 SPD
Gibbs is the fastest running back and one of the fastest players in the entire game.

Best Speed Tight End: Brock Bowers — 90 SPD
A tight end with 90 speed can cause major matchup problems.

Best Overall Elite-Speed Receiver: Ja'Marr Chase — 96 SPD
If you want elite speed without sacrificing overall player quality, Chase is arguably the most complete option.

Best Rookie Speedster: Brenen Thompson — 97 SPD
Thompson's 97 speed makes him one of the most exciting young players to use.

Final Thoughts

Madden NFL 27 continues the long-standing Madden tradition of making speed one of the most exciting attributes to track.

At the very top, Xavier Worthy owns the game's highest speed rating at 99.

But right behind him is an impressive collection of stars and young offensive players:
  • Jahmyr Gibbs — 98
  • Jameson Williams — 98
  • Brenen Thompson — 97
  • Brian Thomas Jr. — 97
  • KaVontae Turpin — 97
  • Lorenzo Styles Jr. — 97
  • Ja'Marr Chase — 96
  • Christian Gonzalez — 96
  • De'Von Achane — 96
  • Malik Nabers — 96
  • Jaylen Waddle — 96
  • Christian Watson — 96
  • Dont'e Thornton Jr. — 96

Whether you're building an Ultimate Team, starting a Franchise, playing online head-to-head, or simply looking for the most fun players to use, speed can completely change the way you play Madden.
And if you're looking for the ultimate speed team, the formula is pretty simple:

Put Xavier Worthy on the outside, Jahmyr Gibbs in the backfield, Jameson Williams opposite Worthy, Brock Bowers at tight end, and Lamar Jackson at quarterback.
Good luck stopping that.

Bottom line: If pure speed is what you're after in Madden NFL 27, Xavier Worthy is the player to beat. But with Gibbs at 98, Williams at 98, and a deep group of 95+ speed players, there are plenty of ways to build an offense capable of leaving defenders in the dust.

Madden NFL 27 Player Ratings: The Biggest Ratings, Rising Stars, and Players We’ve Lost

8/16/2026

Madden NFL 27 player ratings offer more than just a list of numbers—they provide a fascinating snapshot of where the NFL stands in 2026. The coveted 99 Club features six players: Josh Allen, Ja’Marr Chase, Myles Garrett, Trey McBride, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Matthew Stafford. What makes this year especially interesting is the mix of generations. Stafford is entering his 18th NFL season and earned his first-ever 99 overall rating after an incredible 2025 season, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Trey McBride are first-time members who represent the next generation of NFL superstars. Garrett, meanwhile, earned his third 99 rating after setting the NFL single-season sack record with 23 sacks in 2025.

One of the most interesting parts of Madden 27 ratings is looking at the players who are no longer at the top of the game. Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and other familiar Madden superstars have fallen out of the 99 Club, showing just how quickly the NFL changes. Mahomes, for example, sits at 92 in the current MaddenRatings database, while players such as Christian Gonzalez and George Kittle have climbed into the upper 90s. That creates an interesting contrast between the stars who once dominated Madden ratings and the players taking their place. The game is becoming a time capsule of the NFL, showing the transition from one generation of stars to another.

There are also some fascinating stories hidden deeper in the Madden NFL 27 ratings database. Desmond Watson, who is currently not on an NFL roster, reportedly carries a 96 Strength rating, demonstrating that individual attributes can sometimes be just as interesting as overall ratings. Players like Watson, along with veterans who have retired or fallen out of the league, remind us that Madden ratings aren't just about today's NFL—they can preserve pieces of past NFL eras. Meanwhile, young stars such as Smith-Njigba, McBride, Jahmyr Gibbs, Puka Nacua, and Christian Gonzalez are becoming some of the highest-rated players in the game.

That is what makes www.MaddenRatings.net more than simply a place to check whether a player is an 84 or a 94. Madden ratings tell the story of the NFL. They show which players are entering their prime, which veterans are hanging on, which young players are becoming superstars, and which familiar names have disappeared from the league altogether. Years from now, looking back at Madden NFL 27 will provide a fascinating snapshot of the football world in 2026—and the ratings themselves may tell an even bigger story than the game on the field.

8/1/2026

The Madden NFL 27 top team overall ratings are here, as EA Sports has released the overall ratings for every NFL team. If you're wondering which teams are rated the highest heading into the new Madden season, there are some familiar names at the top—but also a few interesting surprises.

The Los Angeles Rams lead the entire league with a 91 overall rating, making them the highest-rated team in Madden NFL 27. The Philadelphia Eagles come in second at 88 overall, followed by the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens, who are both rated 87 overall. The Denver Broncos round out the top five at 86 overall.

The rest of the top 10 features the New England Patriots at 86, the San Francisco 49ers at 85, and the Buffalo Bills at 85. The Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks round out the list at 84 overall each. It's notable to see teams such as Kansas City outside the top five, especially considering how highly rated the Chiefs have been throughout recent Madden games.

Madden NFL 27 Top 10 Team Ratings
  1. Los Angeles Rams — 91 OVR
  2. Philadelphia Eagles — 88 OVR
  3. Detroit Lions — 87 OVR
  4. Baltimore Ravens — 87 OVR
  5. Denver Broncos — 86 OVR
  6. New England Patriots — 86 OVR
  7. San Francisco 49ers — 85 OVR
  8. Buffalo Bills — 85 OVR
  9. Kansas City Chiefs — 84 OVR
  10. Seattle Seahawks — 84 OVR

These team ratings give Madden players a quick look at which rosters EA Sports considers the strongest heading into Madden NFL 27. Of course, an overall team rating doesn't tell the entire story. A team with an elite quarterback, dominant defense, or several high-rated stars can still be extremely dangerous in the hands of the right player.
